R.I.P John Teasdale
It is with a heavy heart, the Northern Saints community would like to extend its deepest condolences to the family and friends of John ‘Boofa’ Teasdale, who passed away in his home this morning.
John had been battling illness for many years.
John was Fawkner through and through, and was proud of his suburb, and was the quintessential Fawkner icon.
Although John and his family moved out of the area, he never forgot his roots, and the history of the suburb, and how it played a massive part in shaping his, and other people’s lives.
He campaigned tirelessly to make the lives of others around him better, and also helped several people battling life’s hurdles, offering them voluntary counselling, something he kept confidential and private.
John was part of one of the most famous footballing families to have graced the suburb and Charles Mutton Reserve his brothers all having played, and his father Geoff, a pioneer committee member and former President of St. Marks.
John goes down as one of the greatest ever footballers to have played for St. Marks and Fawkner Amateurs, an imposing figure and a booming kick, at one stage even being at Carlton Football Club, alongside some famous team mates.
We were lucky to have John speak at our opening of the Hall of Fame last year, where he gave guests a great insight in to some very memorable times for himself and his friends and family.
The world is a poorer place due to his absence, but a better place for having had him around.
R.I.P. Boofa.
